IDEAS 2016!

INTRODUCTION:

IDEAS is a biennially held defence exhibition, started from the year 2000. Over the years, it has grown very well in its reach, participation and international attendance to a level that is second to none. IDEAS exhibits a wide variety of defence systems, ranging from equipment used in the third world countries to the most sophisticated technology from the west and showcases technology of tomorrow and innovations in defence with more than 2500 weapon systems and items of equipment on display.

The event provides a perfect interactive platform for the defence forces to access the best products and technologies to cater for their respective defence for the requirement.  It also brings together international manufacturers and suppliers of products and services to explore the opportunities for cooperation in the field of defence production through the joint ventures.

INAUGRATION TIME OF IDEAS 2016:

KARACHI: (Inauguration Time) Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif inaugurated the ninth (9^th) International Defence Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS) 2016 being held at Expo Centre in Karachi from Tuesday.

The Prime Minister was welcomed at the venue by Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif. Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah and IG Sindh also accompanied the Prime Minister.

Prime Minister said the country today presents huge opportunities for foreign investment, joint agreements and trade. The government is determined to further strengthen the economy, he addressed.

Route information’s :

The route leading to the Expo Centre from Jinnah International Airport Karachi has been decorated with national flags and buntings and welcome banners have also been placed along the route for the participants of the exhibition.

Elaborate security and traffic arrangements have also been made for the occasion.

The four-day (Nov 22-2016 to 25-2016) biennially event is closing in 90 delegations representing 43 countries of the world.

These delegations are being led by their respective countries’ defence ministers, defence secretaries, chief defence staff and other senior officials.

This year nine new countries are participating in the exhibition because of the successful marketing by the Defense Export Promotion Organization (DEPO).

These countries include Luxembourg, Denmark, Belarus, Poland, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Belgium, Nigeria and Romania.

He also addressed that the holding of IDEAS 2016 is a flash of pride for the nation and express that Pakistan is not behind anyone in manufacturing quality defence products.
